Volunteers are a crucial part of the Seniors Wellness Society and OneSky Community Resources seniors services programs. Our volunteers are part of a community initiative to increase quality of life by building community capacity and helping to reduce isolation and vulnerability for the seniors in Penticton.

With flexible schedules and time commitments to suit your needs, there are many ways to be involved in your community.

As a volunteer, you choose the services you want to provide, let us know when you are available and how much time you want to commit. We appreciate all help, even if it is on an occasional basis.

Ways you can help include:

  • Transportation: providing transportation to and from appointments and group outings
  • Deliveries: picking up and delivering groceries and other items
  • Yard Work: raking leaves, mowing lawns and maintaining safe outdoor spaces
  • Snow Removal: clearing walkways and driveways of snow and ice in the winter months
  • Cycling Without Age: providing bike rides with specially equipped trishaws
  • Friendly Visiting: by phone or in person on a regular basis
  • Home Repairs: assisting with simple home repairs
  • Office Support: help in the office with mail outs and other administrative tasks
  • Technology Support: helping seniors understand technology, and their devices
  • Caregiver Support: support for those caring for seniors

How to apply

We accept volunteer applications on an ongoing basis. Our application process includes an interview, reference checks, criminal record check and an orientation. Please fill out the application form here.

  •     is willing to provide one to three hours a month of their time and talents

The Seniors Wellness Society  provides support and services to isolated seniors in south Okanagan-Similkameen communities in partnership with One Sky Community Resources through Better at Home for seniors. The Board of Directors provides the vision and direction for these programs, as well as working in the Community to further collaborative actions to create a community where all seniors can feel connected and supported.

We welcome those from all parts of our community and particularly encourage people from our smaller communities, Indigenous communities, and rural areas to apply.

Please indicate your interest by downloading, completing and submitting a completed Board Application, in confidence to Marsha.Lacroix@OneSkyCommunity.com.
