The Volunteer Centre Program assists volunteers in finding volunteer opportunities in the South Okanagan. The Centre also assists not for profit social organizations in finding volunteers. The Centre is open to the public. Organizations that require volunteers to deliver social programs participated in the program development and a 12 member Steering Committee made up of volunteers from the community advises on the activities of the Centre. The Steering Committee created the vision and mission in 2007. The Vision of the South Okanagan Volunteer Centre is “A community that provides the ultimate volunteer experience”. The South Okanagan Volunteer Centre is committed to building a vibrant community by connecting people through meaningful involvement. The Values are Inclusiveness, Respect, Responsiveness and Commitment
Volunteer Fair 2009.
The South Okanagan Seniors Wellness Society is the lead organization in recognition of the amount of time seniors contribute to volunteering, the impact of volunteering on staying active and maintaining independence and the need for seniors to volunteer their time to help deliver programs that impact elderly seniors.
